Understanding how home satellite internet works is helpful when you are trying to determine if your service provider has the best service for you. If you live too far from the telephone company and want to have internet access, you will needto have satellite internet service. Regular DSL and cable connection occurs through a phone line connection. This is not possible in a rural area, and requires a special type of connection. A satellite dish is used for a two way connection, instead of a phone or cable line to give you online access. An advantage is that satellite runs faster than a normal modem.
