Short Vowels – Rules of phonics

January 14th, 2012

When the child learns phonics the parents need to know at least some basics to help the children. Parents want children to learn phonics for reading English better. So here we will explain one of the rules of phonics called short vowels.  When a word consists of only one vowel and it is a short word or a word with just one syllable then the vowel that is there in the word will make a shirt sound. These kinds of short vowels will normally come in the beginning of the word or is flanked by two consonants. Bus, cat are examples of short vowels.
