Know The Law Before Purchasing Teacup Pigs

April 3rd, 2010

I think people need to check with their local government jurisdiction before buying exotic pets. This will help them avoid breaking the law when it comes to purchasing these types of animals. We all know what happened with the ferret craze quite a few years back. Thousands of these were purchased in California, and had to be hidden from friends, family and neighbors because they are illegal to import into the state. Many pet owner did not understand the laws before purchasing them. The same holds true for teacup pigs. There are certain regulations in your town that you must be aware of to be able to keep a piglet in your home. The teacups are considered livestock in many jurisdictions, and many local ordinances will not allow livestock in city limits. Its always good to check on these things before purchasing a teacup pig.
