May 17th, 2010
Early detection and intervention into negative family and social experiences may be helpful in the prevention of a child developing oppositional and defiant behavior. Parents should adapt and implement effective communication skills, parenting skills, conflict resolution skills, and anger management skills. Early intervention enhances the child’s normal growth, developmental process and improves the quality of life. Prevention of oppositional defiant disorder in childhood is better than dealing with it when it’s on the worst state. Parents should be very wary in determining any of the child’s hostile behavior, if there is any ODD symptoms present, immediately seek for professional help in order to prevent it at an early stage.
