Bird control techniques – the humane approach
December 18th, 2009
With a variety of methods available, bird control can be simple, humane and cost-effective.Pigeons, gulls, sparrows and starlings are just a few of the birds that can present a problem, with their unsightly droppings and nesting habits often being the main issues. One of the most popular bird control methods is that of netting. Thin-corded and weatherproof nets can be installed above areas where control is required, thereby preventing birds from landing and nesting. If netting proves unsightly, a similar function can be performed by use of small spikes, although this tends to be more expensive. In larger areas where netting or spikes are unsuitable, predatory methods can be put to use. Problem bird numbers are then reduced simply by the visual deterrent of birds of prey such as hawks. Thanks to the variety of options available, humane bird control can be performed even on the tightest of budgets.
