Pergola Plans: Adding Climbers To Pergolas

July 18th, 2010

For adding climbers to your pergolas make sure that your pergola plans allow a pergola to be sufficiently high for you to walk through it without touching the climbers overhead. Select climbers that retain their bloom during winters, to make a dreary season come to life. The most popular climbers are wisteria. Almost all varieties of wisteria are known for their beautiful flower and foliage that can densely cover the pergola. However, the flowering time for wisteria is short. These plants can be trained easily to wind themselves around the pergola posts and climb rapidly to form a dense cover over the pergola. Ensure that the pergola is strong enough to take the load of the vines when they mature. Also check out whether they are displacing any board. If they are, then prune them to the extent necessary.
