Skin lightening
December 20th, 2009
One friend of mine, a very successful London general practitioner, informed me that his patients are treated only for their immediate complaint and never even have their blood pressure taken. The capitation fee in Britain’s National Health Service prepayment system is so low, “we can’t afford to do otherwise,” he confided. On the other hand, I know of several American neurologists who order CT scans (computerized tomography, also called CAT scans) routinely on every patient complaining of headache. If the prospect of a minimalization of medical care disturbs you about your skin lightening, then the prospect of HMO membership may give you pause.
