My Family is Way Ahead of Me When it Comes to Facebook, and They are More Than Twice My Age
August 23rd, 2010
I just found out my father is on Facebook. I guess I should have suspected it. Though I don’t think he ever created his own Myspace page, he did have an account so that he could browse other’s pages. Still, it is depressing. All the pressure to join! The numbers of family members I have on this website is growing steadily. Aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, grandparents: all banding together with Facebook while I try to distance myself from such things. Facebook Groups Help families to segregate! The worst part is how many of these people are Baby Boomers or older, when I myself am labeled as a part of Generation Y. I should be telling them about these social networks on the internet, not the other way around. Oh, but I rebel. I just don’t want to be tied into anything on the internet. Hopefully, they will forgive me. Which reminds me, I should probably call them more? Oh, technology.
