The Good In Twitter

Twitter isn’t useful at all- at least, that’s what I thought for a long time. Recently, though, I’ve been starting to change my mind. I still don’t care to read about the intimate, tiny details of celebrities’ lives, but it’s amazing how fast and far breaking news spreads through twitter. Look at the news about Michael Jackson, for instance, or the way the Iranian election riots were covered. Twitter definitely has a use; it makes large scale reporting by the people, for the people, possible for the first time ever. Of course, not all the news that gets out will be precisely fit to print, given its crowd-sourced nature, but it will be what people actually care about, and that’s valuable too.
