The Hotel California Lyrics, And What It Improved For My Life

June 6th, 2011

Hotel California Lyrics contain such ambiguous imagery that some people have made up bizarre stories about the song. This noteworthy song, which won the 1977 Grammy Award for Record of the Year, is an Eagles track. Some people were even confused by the Hotel California lyrics included with the album. The play on words in “She’s got the Mercedes bends” was on purpose but was perceived by some as merely a typo. Band member Glenn Frey has clarified that the Hotel California lyrics are a sustained metaphor of their LA experiences at the time. Don Henley, who cowrote the lyrics, has also asserted that the song is about the less pleasant parts of the American dream. Don Felder at first wrote the music for the song then Henley and Frey added the lyrics. Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 all-time greatest albums included the Hotel California album, at number 37.
